Winter Wedding Ideas are not difficult to create. There is something about the beauty and wonder of winter that makes it such a beautiful time to get married.
No matter what the weather is outside, winter wedding themes bring a magical and fun element, evoking memories of the wonder of childhood when seeing the first snowflakes out the windows.
Even if there is no snow in the forecast, you can use a winter theme wedding to bring winter to you in very easy and affordable ways.
Here are some winter wedding ideas from choosing a winter wedding location, wedding attire, favor ideas, and decorations:
Locations for winter weddings:
If you're wedding will be small and intimate, look for rooms in hotels, Inn's or restaurant's with a large fireplace with eating around it. If you're wedding will be larger, look for rooms that still have an atmosphere of warmth and coziness, again with a large stone fireplace would be lovely. Make sure the venue is not cold and drafty as many older locations could be in the winter months.
If you live in an area that will most likely have difficult weather to travel in, consider a location that won't be too far for most of your guests. It would be very disappointing if some guests couldn't make it because of heavy snowfall and driving conditions for their hour away drive.
Winter wedding colors:
Many wedding colors look beautiful with winter wedding themes.

| Royal blue and gold create stunning winter wedding reception tables | Red and gold are bold uses of color in a winter holiday wedding | Light blue is a favorite winter wedding color and even drinks can bring in your color. |
Light blue and white will give you a lot of options in decorating and even wedding favors, as many winter wedding ideas and favors seem to favor blue and white. But you're not limited to only blue. Red and gold or blue and gold are classy and elegant.
Green and white or green and gold is another great winter color, particularly best if you're wedding is near the holidays. The benefit of having a wedding near the holidays is many venues will still have beautiful decorations up which saves money on decorations.

If you're after a more formal look, silver and white or black and white are other great combination. The black and white combination would look great with splashes of an accent color like blue or red, especially in the winter when the sky can be more gray.
Winter wedding attire:
Your wedding colors will affect the look in your winter wedding party's attire.
Winter wedding dresses are not limited to high collar, long sleeve varieties, although they may be practical if you'll be taking many pictures outside in the cold. Yet, strapless dresses with small sequins or pearls add some sparkle too. A faux fur shawl in white or a shawl in your chosen wedding color will keep you warm and coordinates too.
It is sometimes difficult to find fashionable winter wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. Many are designed for the popular summer wedding season and are made of thinner material, or less of it, than you'll need for a winter wedding.
Keep in mind your bridesmaids comfort and need to stay warm also. Dresses in fabrics like satin, silk, and velvet are heavier and warmer. Many designers have three piece dresses with a long sleeve shrug, that works well for a winter bridesmaid dresses.

Personal Note
I got married in the beginning of January so many holiday decorations were still up at our reception venue. It was great to have the Christmas tree all lit up when guests first arrived, with the added benefit of less decorating costs for us.
