Fall Wedding Ideas

Choices for Fall wedding ideas are endless. I love the idea of a fall wedding, it’s my favorite time of year and a GREAT time for a wedding, although often overlooked for that.

When all the rush of June weddings is over, and families are back in school, most wedding vendors are less busy and the possibility of discounts is better than the summer. The air is crisp and cool… and no sweltering, melting makeup in the hot sun.

Here are some great fall wedding ideas, and things to keep in mind:

Outside Fall Weddings

The weather can be more unpredictable in the fall. Be sure to have an alternate location set up with your wedding vendors in the event of rain. (and umbrellas on hand just in case). But large canopies or tents help too and reputable wedding planners or vendors can help.

Take full advantage of a fall wedding by having your location with a view of the changing leaves. Depending on your location, the leaves change at different times.

The yellow’s, oranges and red’s of the leaves create a perfect free wedding background for an outside garden wedding, a vineyard, or even a barn. Even the beach is a great time for a fall theme wedding because the crowds are fewer and you’ll probably have much of it to yourselves.

Fall wedding colors and fall wedding flowers

Or, simply have maple leaves (real or from a craft store), scattered around the table with big baskets of fall wedding flowers of shades of red or orange… for help in choosing your wedding colors

But also think beyond the traditional red or orange fall color scheme, you could also use chocolate brown, golds, burgundy, copper, and hints of green.

Fall wedding decorations:

Have large bolts of rich tone fabric swags on the walls if inside, or decorate the inside of an outdoor canopy or tent with small orange lights and fabric draped on the inside corners for a dramatic effect. Remember to add plants inside the tent as well, if room allows.

Bring the fall wedding ideas and theme in with a more informal wedding by having bails of hay around the dance floor and tables

Have name cards made from writing the names of your guests on each pumpkin or squash… or have them on the leaves at each place setting.

Fill glasses with popcorn kernels and place a candle in each one.

This looks especially great in an outdoor garden wedding or a barn wedding and are cheap and easy to do.

You can also order maple leaf place card holders at The wedding shop, I like them because it fits in nicely with a more formal wedding reception decor.

Rich jewel tone and thick fabrics are good choices for the tablecloths as well as when you think about the wedding attire.

I hope these fall wedding ideas got your creative mind thinking about ways to make your autumn wedding special.
