Materials needed for this project:

A-4 sheets of paper (preferably patterned decorative paper)
Backing card
A couple of split pins
A ruler
A pair of scissors
A paper punch
Some glue

Steps:

Use a piece of card to make a diamond shape template. Use this template to cut the A-4 sheets into diamonds.
Cut the backing card into diamonds as well using the same template and glue these to the back of your paper diamonds.
Use the paper punch to punch a hole at the bottom of each of your diamonds –make sure all your holes are at exactly the same place.
Put one diamond on top of the other to arrange them in the pattern of your preference, and insert a split pin through the hole at the bottom.

Make these original pin wheels to be used as place names!

Materials needed:

A-4 patterned thick sheets of paper or thin card (bear in mind that you need to bend it to make the pin wheels).
A couple of push pins
A couple of round head pins
Wooden dowels (one per pin wheel)
A thin craft chip board
A paper punch (6 mm)
Some hot glue

Procedure:

You will need 12 x 12 cm squares to make your pin wheels (each A-4 card makes two of them). Cut your sheets into squares and punch them in the middle with a push pin.
Lay all your squares pattern side down on the board or table, and cut four lines starting from the corners down to the centre, stopping 2 cm before reaching the middle. Punch a hole with a push pin in each corner to the right of your cut.
Bend all four corners and bring them together to the pin hole in the middle. Stick a round head pin through all four corner holes.
Use the chip board to punch some holes with the paper punch. Slide these round pieces onto the end of each pin, holding the pinwheel head together from the back. Try out your pin wheel now: it should spin around.
Make a hole 13 mm from the top of the dowel with the push pin and drop hot glue in this hole. Insert the round head pin in the center of the pin wheel, making sure that the paper or the chipboards do not touch the glue.

You can finally make some name tags with any material you have at hand –metal, cardboard, etc.- and hang them on the pin wheel by means of some colourful ribbon. They will definitely look great!
