Between all the wedding themes that are available, most of you will agree that beach weddings are the least expensive. It is a theme that is both cost effective and romantic.

Wedding cost can add up very quickly and without realizing it we have overshot the budget or have so little left that the reception is in serious jeopardy.

Beach wedding can be designed on any waterfront. Any beach will do ocean, lake or even poolside. If your are on a very tight budget, I recommend a pier rather than having a wedding on the beach and here are several practical factors that you have to take into account.

The Weather

The first things you have to consider will be the weather. On the beach you have to worry about high and gusting winds.

There goes the hats, the hair do’s and maybe even some of the props.

The dry season is generally a better time to hold a beach wedding and then it may be safer still to have it in a pavilion on a pier overlooking the beach than down on the sand.

The pier gives you the same great ocean view and the salty air but is less of a hassle. Using an ocean front pavilion makes the weather rather a moot point.

Save on the wedding arch

It will also cut out the cost of paying for a wedding arch. For a wedding on the beach, you will have to rent or buy the wedding arch and decorate it. Add it up with the flowers and chair rental.

But if you're having a wedding on a pier pavilion, you can use the pillars and decorated with a few flowering vines (artificial of course) will make for great scenery and will look like real ones in your photographs.

These can be bought for $20.00 or less at any craft shop.

Watch out for the tides

Then there are the tides. If you don’t do your home work and High tide comes in your entire wedding could be underwater.

You have to know when the tide rolls in and how high it comes up onto the beach.

Rather than cancel your wedding ceremony why don't you just move to a Pier? Weather, rentals and tides, oh my, now doesn’t that pier and pavilion sound much more inviting?

Restaurants

When you make your home in one of the many landlocked states the pier makes even more sense. And seriously a lake backdrop can look as beautiful as the ocean in a photograph.

Most lakes that have piers also have plenty of fancy restaurants around them. You could easily choose one of those for your reception.

Restaurants are usually very accommodating when it comes to hosting wedding receptions.

While at the beach wedding, some couples have a picnic type reception; this will call for tents and umbrellas and of course, beach chair rentals.

You can cut out the chair rentals by using blankets. Assign the task of taking care of the picnic setup to one of your relatives. It will make them feel useful as well as keep them occupied.

Takeout makes a great choice for food at this wedding reception on the beach. It is easy and convenient. Not fast food but food from a nice mid-ranged restaurant. This way no one feels cheated.

Summary

When planning a beach wedding the need to put a solid wedding arch to have a ceremony on the beach to escape the wind and to have a heavy solid chair, one that can stay still until your guest arrive, will only increase the cost of the entire affair.

The best solution is to combine pier ceremony with wedding receptions on the beach. A picnic surely cost less than having receptions in restaurant. If you can save a few dollars on the ceremony then it will be better for you.
